Jazza-u Sayyiah : The Penalty for The Bad Deed

Once upon a time in an unknown village, lived a poor boy that has nothing to do. He just sat and ate his only bread on the roadside. He saw a dog in the opposite roadside while eating his bread and had some naughty plan to trick the dog.
The boy came closer to the dog and started to offer the dog with bread on his hand. He came closer and closer. Step by step, until the dog interested on it.  The dog looked at the boy who was coming closer, then focused on the bread on the boy’s hand.  The dog got its muzzle closer to the bread. Then, while it was going to eat the bread, the boy pulled his hand back then hit the dog’s forehead with his another hand.
The dog was angry and afraid of him, then walked back to its place while the boy was laughing at the dog and seems like he was very satisfied. Not too far from there, a man was looking from the little window on his house what the boy had done to the dog. When the boy decided to get back to his place and continued eating his bread, the man came out from his house and called the boy loudly.
“Hey, you a boy over there!” shouted the man. The boy just glanced at the man without any interest at all. “Come here, boy!”
The boy got up from his place and walked to the man’s place lazily. The man who was bringing a stick and hiding it on his back started to offer the boy with some money.
“Do you want this money, boy?” asked the man. Just a second later, the boy was so enthusiast. But then he had a doubt on it and asked, “How much?”
“50 dollar, isn’t it much enough?” answered the man.
“Yes, of course!” The boy shouted happily and his hand was going to take the money on the man’s hand. But a moment before he was successfully took the money, the man pulled back his hand and hit the boy’s hand with a stick on his back.
“Ouch, what have you done, Sir?” sighed the boy. “Why did you hit me whereas I haven’t got anything yet from you?”
“Then, why did you hit the dog whereas it hasn’t got anything yet from you?” The man asked a similar question to the boy and the boy just bowed shamefully. “Remember, boy! Jazza-u sayyitin sayyiatun mitsluha. The penalty for a bad deed is a bad thing the same with what he did.”

Iqbal Fawwaz Ramadhan or well known as Fawwaz, is one of my inspiring people. He is my senior now, at SMAN 3 Bandung. His late school at Nurul Fikri Boarding School was his beginning in memorizing Al-Qur’an. As he said, he started to memorize seriously in junior high school although he was memorizing since in elementary.
His motivations for memorizing Al-Qur’an were friends, parents, and teacher. From parents, it was caused by his guilt on them and felt like there were nothing worth to give to his parents. So, by memorizing Al-Qur’an, he hopes that he can give something wonderful for them, even if not in the world, hopes will be in the day after.
And also from his teacher. It was when he met Mr. Fathur for the first time. Mr. Fathur asked, “ Where are you from?”
“ Kudus.” He said. Then Mr. Fathur told him that in Kudus, when we knock a house’s door, there must be at least one Hafizh in it. That’s why he feel so ashamed of himself that he hasn’t memorize much yet.
And this is my interview with him a few weeks ago.

221B Baker Street

London. What kind of thing that comes to your mind when you heard that word?

London Tower.
Big Ben.
London Eye.
Tower Bridge.
Windsor Castle.

Or, Baker Street?

Baker Street is a street in the Marylebone district of the City of Westminster in London. it is named after builder William Baker, ho laid the street out in the 18th century. The area was orignally high class residential, but now is mainly occupied by commercial premises.

Baker St is a busy thoroughfare, lying in postcode areas NW1/W1 and forming part of the A41 there. It runs south from Regent's Park, the junction with Park Road, parallel to Gloucester Place, meeting Marylebone Road, Portman Square and Wigmore Street. At the junction with Wigmore St, Baker St turns into Orchard Street, which ends when it meet Oxford Street. After portman Square the road continues as Orchard Street.

The Street is Served by the London Underground by Baker Street tube station, one of the world's oldest surviving underground stations. Next door is Transport for London's lost property office.

A significant robbery of a branch of Lloyds Banks took place on Baker Street in 1971.

But not. I won't write about the whole Baker Street. I just going to write about a building on 221B Baker Street. Guess what is it?

221B Baker Street is the London address of the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes, created by author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. In the United Kingdom, postal addresses with a number followed by a letter may indicate a separate address within a larger, often residential building. Baker Street in Holmes' time was a high-class residential district, and Holmes' apartment was probably part of a Georgian terrace.

When the "Sherlock Holmes" stories were first published, street numbers in Baker Street did not go as high as 221, which was presumably why Conan Doyle chose a higher street number for the location of his hero, to prevent any person's actual residence from being affected.

The section north of Marylebone Road near Regent's Park – now including 221 Baker Street – was known in Conan Doyle's lifetime as Upper Baker Street. In his first manuscript, Conan Doyle put Holmes' house in Upper Baker Street, indicating that if he had a house in mind, it would have been there. However, a British crime novelist named Nigel Morland claimed that, late in Conan Doyle's life, he identified the junction of Baker Street and George Street, about 500 metres south of Marylebone Road, as the location of 221B. Sherlockian experts have also held to alternative theories as to where the original 221B was located and have maintained that it was further down Baker Street.

The street number 221B was assigned to the Sherlock Holmes Museum on 27 March 1990 (replacing the logical address 239 Baker Street) when the Leader of Westminster City Council, Lady Shirley Porter, unveiled a blue plaque signifying the address of 221B Baker Street. She was invited to renumber the museum's building to coincide with its official opening (and because the number 221B had not been included in the original planning consent for the museum granted in October 1989).

Jean Conan Doyle made clear her lack of enthusiasm for the museum when she was asked about it. She was very much against the idea of suggesting that her father's creation was a real person and knew that the presence of the museum would reinforce the idea in the minds of many that Holmes had really existed.

This idea was strengthened further by the presence of a commemorative blue plaque on the outside that states the years of Holmes's supposed residency. Though the plaque is similar in design to those erected by English Heritage as part of the London-wide plaque scheme, it is not a part of that scheme, as their selection criteria rule out the commemoration of entirely fictional characters.

The Museum did offer Dame Jean the opportunity to create a room in the museum dedicated to her father, but this offer was refused, and since then the last remaining possessions of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle have been sold off at auction.

The statue of Sherlock Holmes in London, sculpted by John Doubleday, stands near the site of the fictional detective's home at 221B Baker Street. Unveiled on 23 September 1999, it was funded by the Abbey National building society, whose headquarters were on the supposed site of the famous address. As no site was available on Baker Street itself the statue is outside Baker Street tube station, on Marylebone Road. Doubleday had previously produced a statue of Holmes for the town of Meiringen in Switzerland, below the Reichenbach Falls from which the detective fell to his death in the story "The Final Problem".

The 3-metre-high statue depicts Holmes wearing an Inverness cape and a deerstalker and holding a pipe, attributes first given to him by Sidney Paget, who illustrated Arthur Conan Doyle's stories for The Strand Magazine. It is located outside Baker Street tube station on Marylebone Road, near both the detective's fictional home at 221B Baker Street and the Sherlock Holmes Museum between numbers 237 and 241.

One of A Thousand Friends of Mine

I have a lot of friends since I was born 'till now when I am 15 years old. I never counted on how many my friends are. Because, a thousand friends is not enough, but an enemy is too much already.

But why don't you let me tell about one of my friends, one of a thousand friends of mine, that's not by chance to be my classmate, but it has been written that we will meet and know each other. She is Dewi, my classmate in X IPA 2 and also in Thursday English "Lintas Minat" Class.

Dewi Oktavia Citra is a thin and tall girl who was born in Pacitan on 18th of October 1999. Her parents are both Javanese but Dewi can't speak in Javanese language. Hey Dewi, we have such a same problem. But no! She can speak and understand Sundanese since she was grew up on the Sunda land. But I can't speak nor understand both Javanese and Sundanese. Oh what a shame-_-

When she was in elementary, her house isn't far from her school. She lived in a complex that used to be so quite and there are not many kids playing around. Moreover, she is the only child in her family that made her play with electronics, not human haha. And finally her family moved to a new house when she was in 2nd grade of junior high school. They moved to the location near from her school, in SMPN 25 Bandung.

And, guess what! She is such a very very very smart girl. She got 1st rank, again and again since 1st grade until graduated from junior high school. And she got good National Exam score and wished to enter SMAN 3 Bandung, the best school in Indonesia. And wow! I just came true and she is now becoming X IPA 2 student, my classmate.

She has so many dreams. She really hoped to enter one of Indonesia's best university, or even the best one in engineering, Bandung Technology Institute, or known as ITB. She also really want to go to Mecca with her family. But, she hasn't really realized what will she be or which occupation she hope to be in the future. But of course, what ever will be.. will be (uh? I just singing haha) She want to be such a successful woman and make her parents proud of her.

Hey you WARGATIGA2017!

MATSWAPATI

Do you live in Bandung?
If yes, you should have known SMAN 3 Bandung, haven't you?
At least, you've ever heard it before, right?

Are you really are an Indonesian?
Do you love your culture?
If yes, do you know what is Matswapati?

As wikipedia said, Matswapati is the binatara (great) king in state of Wirata, the king who rules the kings. It is an Indonesian puppetry  figure.

But, not. It's not what I meant.

Matswapati is an event that being held by SMAN 3 Bandung to deepen the teenagers' knowledge of Indonesian culture. It was held on last Saturday, 27th of September 2014. It also held for celebrating Bandung's 204th anniversary. I will not tell the whole activities and agendas in Matswapati. But I will specifically tell you about how my class member were decorating our stand.

We decorated it on the spot, a day before Matswapati. It was not such an effective time for us to decorate it well. We decorated it in hurry, because there was no much time. Our stand theme was Arjuna that brings archery. Beside we decorated the stand for selling items, some of us make costume for Davy who was becoming Arjuna.

It hadn't ended yet, so we continued it on D-Day. Some of us went to stand and arranging all items for sale, some others adorned the stand with ready properties, and the rest was drawing on a cloth for stand's background. One of them which was drawing on the cloth was Fadhilla Najmi, or usually called Falla. She is one of my class' creative student. We wrote down "Arjuna" on the cloth and gave some pattern to beautify it's appearance.

I helped a bit, but then Fathiya asked Falla to accompany her to the toilet. But I found that they went to the food court. Oh hey, they was tricking me. Haha. Not, that was not the reason. There was a reason why they went to the food court instead of going to toilet.

And I was following them then we ate lunch there until the T'sT performance. When we went back behind the stand where we decorated stand's background before, the background had done. Yes, I just helped a bit, I'm sorry guys! :))

Overall, Falla said Matswapati was nice, not it was great. The problem is the weather that was so hot and there were not any tent in front of the stage. That caused the visitors were lazy to watch the performances and chose to just listen from the food court, or watched from inside the stand. It was totally hot weather and so dusty although the firefighters had sprayed the water to remove the dust on the field over and over again. Another problem is, we felt thirsty even though we had drunk ice lemon tea, Milo, and many drinks. It must be because there were not any mineral water there and the sweet drinks just make us more and more thirsty.

Falla, Fathi, and Maria went back to home at about 5 pm. And I stayed there until almost the last performance cause I really wanted to watch Barsena and Glenn's performances. I was being picked up at about 7.30 pm when Glenn Fredly was performing his last song.

For me, personally, I like this event. It was a great event! Know Your Culture! Love Your Nation! And happy 204th anniversary Bandung City!

Shouldn't Be Famous, Just Should Be Known

ME IS ME. So, who am I? Let me introduce myself.

My full name is Fitria Budi Ananda, and you can just call me Fitria, or whatever you want cause in my previous school, I’ve never been called Fitria as main call. It’s so various call, Piti, Pitek (Javanese, that means chicken), and many unique call more. And I don’t really like to be called Fitri. I don’t know why, I just dislike it.

My sister (left) and me (right)

I am a girl who was born on Saturday, June 5th 1999 in Bandung. My mother is a number one hero for me, Hastuti Martiana, who has graduated from German Literature in Padjadjaran University (Unpad). And just like my middle name, Budi Nugroho Sudiarto is my wonderful father who has graduated from Electrical Engineering in Bandung Technology Institute (ITB). Both of my parents have graduated from Bandung Universities. But in fact, they both were not born in Bandung. Their hometown are not Bandung. They are totally Javanese People, my mother comes from Karanganyar, Surakarta, and my father comes from Salatiga. I have an older sister, Annisa Budiastuti (co-ass medical school UNS) and two older brothers, Taufik Akbar Abdullah (STEI ITB) and Muh. Rizal Abdul Aziz (MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong).
I have some unsolved problems. I was born and grew up in Bandung, but I can’t speak Sundanese, even though I can understand a bit when anyone speaks Sundanese. And I studied about 3 years in Yogyakarta which has strong culture, but I can’t speak Javanese. It was shameful that I can’t speak both Javanese or Sundanese in my fifteen years of life.
I studied in Luqmanul Hakim Islamic Elementary School Bandung (graduated in 2011), Islamic Boarding School Bina Umat YK (graduated in 2014), and now I study in 3 Senior High School Bandung. I chose to studied in Islamic school in elementary and junior high school for many reasons. Of course, I want to deepen my knowledge of Islam. But why I chose 3 Senior High School? Cause it was my dream since in elementary, to enter 3 Senior High School Bandung. Because dream is not just a dream. It was something that we really have to fight for.
But in 3rd grade of junior high school, I have some doubts in SMAN 3 Bandung. And I changed my school direction to MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong (ICS). I studied hard to enter it. Although national exam score (NEM) is not needed to enter MAN ICS, as my mother said, “ Study hard for national exam as if you will enter SMAN 3 Bandung,” And when MAN ICS selection announced and I was not qualified, I was, of course, so disappointed. I cried along that day, but eventually I realized, Allah knows better. No. Allah knows the best for us. As Allah said in one of my favorite ayah that is so inspiring for me,

“ Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.”

My schools : (left to right) SDIT Luqmanul Hakim, SMP IT Bina Umat, SMAN 3 Bandung

So just believe, Allah has his best plan for us. InshaAllah, SMAN 3 Bandung is the best way for me. I’ll fight to reach my dreams. Du’a, effort, and tawakkal.

MAN JADDA WAJADA
